Katherine Roberts, author of Spellfall, won the inaugural Branford Boase Award for her first novel Song Quest, part of the Echorium trilogy. She is also author of the Seven Fabulous Wonders series (translated into 12 languages so far) and the Carnegie-nominated I Am The Great Horse.
Born 1962 in Torquay, UK, she received a first class degree in mathematics from the University of Bath and worked with racehorses for ten years. Katherine’s advice for aspiring authors? ‘Keep enjoying what you write – then there’s a good chance your readers will enjoy it, too.’ Something you didn’t know about Katherine: she is heiress of a small part of Manhattan Island (the Edwards-Hall ‘fortune’).
