Before writing his children’s story about a sharply-dressed skeleton detective, Derek wrote the screenplays for a zombie movie and a murderous thriller in which everybody dies.

As a black belt in Kenpo Karate he has taught countless children how to defend themselves, in the hopes of building his own private munchkin army. He firmly believes that they await his call to strike against his enemies (he doesn’t actually have any enemies, but he’s assuming they’ll show up, sooner or later).

Derek lives on the outskirts of Dublin, and the reason he writes his own biography blurb is so that he can finally refer to himself in the third person without looking pompous or insane.

   This book is an absolute masterpiece, the first 100 pages may be a bit boring but it is worth it and is a great start to a truly amazing series, I am currently almost finished the 5th book and have bought all of them, up to 8.My favourite series ever and the final and last book is out in august.HYPE!

   If you liked horror this is the book for you ,if you liked detectives as well I recomend you go buy thisnow an alrightbook not for the soft hearted though!

   I read this book through school when I was in year 6, and was amazed at how much i enjoyed it. I thought it would be really boyish, but one of the main characters was a girl, and I was really impressed! Great book.

    This book is absolutely stunning it is just a must read. If you like books like Harry potter and Alex rider I pretty much guarantee you will thoroughly enjoy this. This is actually my 4th favourite book.

    This book is AMAZING and I certainly reccomend you read it. Its fun and fast. No blabbing on about what their house looks like and a paragraph on what their ears look like an so on,I love the way Derek Landy just goes straight into the story!

    I absolutely love this book!! it’s so my favourite! The way that Derek Landy portrays Valkyrie, makes me soo want to be like her, great at magic and have Skulduggery, Tanith and Ghastly as companions!

    Anyone and everyone must read this book! it’s really addictive and always gets your heart racing, wondering what will happen next at each turn of the page!

    This is a brilliant book written by Derek Landy. It is full of fun and adventure and full lof action. I was recomended it by my school library teacher and I am so glad I have read this. Everybody should read this book if they want a really good read. I can’t wait to read the others. GO SKULDUGGERY PLEASANT!

    Skulduggery is a fast paced. Action-packed book. When Stephanie’s uncle dies, a mysterious stranger who Stephanie has never seen before appears at the funeral. No one seems to know why but this stranger is always around with a black hat, sunglasses, black scarf covering all his face and a black coat as if to hide his body. But when Stephanie’s uncle’s will leaves her his own house, Stephanie knows there is something wrong. People who love magic, mystery and fast flowing combat then you’ll love this book! Out of ten, I give it one hundred!!! :)

    So good! The second book is fantastic too! THe powers the elementals you WANT to be in that world, you want it to happen! A real page turner and you can’t put it down till you’ve finished and when you do you’ll find it hard to shut it away!
