Product description
“As Dad went out for the evening shift, he looked up and said grimly ‘If they’re ever going to come, it’ll be on a night like this.’ And sure enough the first air raid warning came at a few minutes past nine…”
It’s 1940. Edie Benson lives happily with her family in Lewisham, London. Little does she know that the summer will be one of air-raid sirens and bombs raining down, tearing the heart out of London. As the city she loves is turned to a smoking wreck, it will soon become too dangerous for children, and Edie will be sent away from everything she knows and loves…

on 30 June 2012“My Story: Blitz” is the fictional diary of twelve year-old Edie (short for Edith) Benson, a girl from Lewisham in London. She writes about the bombings in London in 1940 and 1941. She tells you her experience of spending the night in the Anderson and the blackouts and what her parents and the other firemen and ARPs dealt with at bombed buildings, searching for survivors in the rubble. This book was gripping from the first page, I knew it was going to be good – but it sort of didn’t live up to that expectation throughout the book, unfortunately. You see, it was good at the beginning but although the blurb may sound very exciting but it isn’t too thrilling. I did like the book and the characters were quite entertaining but the three things I didn’t like were that it had a sad ending, it was a bit boring – not much action, and it was too short at just 123 pages! In spite of all that it was a good read, just not as action-packed as others from the series. It is good if you’re interested int he London bombings during World War Two

Love war stories?
I love war stories and liked the fact that throughout the book you were hoping the main character, Edie's house wouldn`t be bombed, that she would be okay as an evacuee and that her family members contributing to the war effort would be okay. To find out what happens by reading the book.
I rate this book 10/10, I love it alot as it is historical fiction and it is set in the blitz- if your Grandparents were around in the war ask them what the war was like- you may end up with a story just like this one!
