Product description

Meet Grant the genie, and his best friend – the puppy Teeny…

The first in a series of magical adventures from the renowned illustrator, Steven Lenton, winner of Waterstones Picture Book of the Month and the Times Children’s Book of the Week.

When Grant the Genie is cast out of Genie World, he lands on Earth with a big, fat bump! Without a lamp to call home, he has to settle for an old cracked teapot instead.

Grant is very lonely until he meets the puppy, Teeny. Then Genie and Teeny are kidnapped by the evil purple-loving Lavinia Lavender, and find themselves on-course for a rollercoaster of an adventure – when all they really want is a place to call home…

Our July 2021 Ages 5-6 Book of the Month

Sometimes it is tricky to find a book for a reader that is not quite ready to cut their teeth on a longer, more challenging text, but is ready to move on from basic colour readers. I’ve chosen Genie and Teeny as it sandwiches itself perfectly in this space, offering a fun read for a transitional reader but still with plenty of pace and excitement, shorter chapters and lots of fun illustrations to keep the momentum going. Steven Lenton is an award-winning illustrator and I love the way he communicates humour through his pictures, which is a really key part of getting kids to engage fully with books.

Funny and heartfelt, this spellbinding and whirlwind adventure finds Genie helping a little lost puppy, tackling an evil kidnapper and all with only a few magical mishaps in-between… A story of finding your place, kindness and friendship.
