Product description
“I open the book and write the very first words: My name is Mina and I love the night. Then what shall I write? ... I’ll let my journal grow just like the mind does, just like a tree or a beast does, just like life does.”
And so Mina writes and writes in her notebook, and through her stories, thoughts, lessons and dreams, Mina’s journal and mind grow into something extraordinary. In this stunning prequel to his hypnotic Carnegie Medal winner, Skellig, master author David Almond revisits Mina before she has met Michael – before she has met Skellig.
“David Almond is a fine writer, one of the very finest we have. He is simply incapable of writing a bad sentence.” Michael Morpurgo
“David Almond’s novels all have a unique, mystical thread running through them. He weaves a story web, spiderlike, that holds the reader spellbound while he spins new thought-threads on universal themes.” Carousel

on 18 June 2015This book is nothing like I have imagined. Mina is a very, and I mean VERY different girl. She doesn’t act like a real girl, I guess. For me, the book was boring.

on 1 March 2012My Name Is Mina is a book full of hidden meanings. It is almost as though every page is a metaphor, I enjoyed parts, but found others boring and un-exciting. The font also bothered me, it was hard to read and distracting. This is not my top choice of book.

on 23 February 2012My Name is Mina is a great book, I thoroughly enjoyed Mina`s view on life. As most people may know, My Name is Mina is the prequel of Skellig, another great book!
Through Mina`s journal we discover her thought and views on life, she writes poems and stories, and how she become home schooled, and what she discovered in an old house!
I rate this book 10/10, I liked the clutter of William Blake poems and quotes, other poems and loads of stories and views on life from Mina`s point of view. I definetly reccomend this book to Skellig fans!

Amazing and intriguing
I was so pleased when I heard that David Almond was writing a book about Mina from his novel Skellig – she’s such an amazing and intriguing character. The book is beautifully written and Mina is unlike any other literary character, she has such an unusual outlook and sees the beauty in everything. Now one of my favourite books!
