Michael Morpurgo discovered his talent for writing while working as a teacher. “We had to read the children a story every day and my lot were bored by the book I was reading. I decided I had to do something and told them the kind of story I used to tell my kids – it was like a soap opera, and they focused on it. I could see there was magic in it for them, and realised there was magic in it for me.”

Living in Devon, listening to Mozart, and working with children have provided most of the stimulae Michael needs to discover and write his stories. He spends about half his life mucking out sheds with the children, feeding sheep or milking cows; the other half he spends dreaming up and writing stories. “For me, the greater part of writing is daydreaming, dreaming the dream of my story until it hatches out – the writing down of it I always find hard. But I love finishing it, then holding the book in my hand and sharing my dream with my readers.”

   War Horse

   The amazing story when Albert(the boy) met Joey(the horse) then one day joey was gone albert was heart broken.Alberts dad;he gets drunk at market,bought joey home.This had changed Alberts emotions.Albert always got up gave his soothing owl sound to joey to make him feel good but on the other hand alberts horrible dad astonishingly treated him badly. was this fare? but months later war had arrived,meaning joey and his stable mate(zoey) had to leave.poor Albert not knowing were they had left. when hefound out he went as fast as he could. but was to late.Joey could not bare the harsh winters.soon was captured by germans then lost his soul mate zoey. this is a great book i would recomend it it is amazingly good.

   shadow

   shadow is a sad heartwarming book that brings tearss tpo your eyes, i have read it 4 or 5 times i think it s so good and ive read alot of his otger ones like i have got a book selectipon which i find really intresting with books like friend or foe and adolphus tips

   War Horse

   Ali:war horse is thrilling, spectacular, marvellous, so many words. there are sad parts , happy parts, exciting parts and scary parts. my favourite novel ever

   Michael: Same name as me, ha ha ha, no, i've read the book to, and many more, i don't usually enjoy reading, but Michael Morpurgo is a legend, speaking of which, I have a joke I got the other day, "i met the man who invented window sills, what a ledge" , ha ha ha, another one, " Conjuctivitus.com, now that's a site for sore eyes", that got joke of the year, they are both tim vine, ha ha ha, anyway, the book. Brilliant, no other word, its spectacular, marvellous, exciting. oh, three more words, ha ha ha.

   Ali: I've also read Shadow, it's so exciting and moving to, a wonderful story

   Michael: I've read it too, it was brilliant, but still, War Horse is definitely my favourite
