Jacqueline Wilson was born in Bath in 1945, but spent most of her childhood in Kingston-on-Thames. She always wanted to be a writer and wrote her first “novel” when she was nine, filling countless Woolworths’ exercise books as she grew up. Since having her daughter, Emma, she has been writing full time.

Her insightful and emotionally challenging books not only stretch reading ability, but give young readers a glimpse into many kinds of lives. Smart girls, strong girls, bad girls, brave girls. Girls keeping their families going, girls trying to get away… Jacqueline Wilson’s written about them all! In 2007 Jacky Daydream was published, an inspirational true story of how a shy schoolgirl became a superstar author. This was followed by My Secret Diary, a captivating account of Jacky’s teenage years.

In June 2002 Jacqueline was given an OBE for services to literacy in schools, and she was the Children’s Laureate from 2005-2007. She also became a Dame in December 2007.

   If u have’nt read this book DO NOT read this becase i am spoiling the book for u. Hetty- i mean sapphire goes and works with an author and helps the cook and another maid Sarah,do there job. A boy in who works in the butchers dilivers food to the cook and is in love with Sapphire AKA Hetty but sapphire isn’t sure if she likes him, she thinks she is still in love with Jem. Then the master needs help for his book and Hetty gives him her memories which was a BIG no HUGE MISTAKE beacase when she wanted them back the master said no and she argued and he sacked her. So she goes to find her mum. When she found her she was sick so hetty took her to hospital unfortunatly her mum died a week later sapphire’s mum was talking to her in her head and said that her dad still lives.

   It sounded really good. That book is the only book I haven’t read in the series of Hetty Feather. It is really engaging and I really want to know what happens. If anybody has read all the Hetty Feather I recommend reading Diamond as Hetty Feather comes in to it!

   The book Sapphire Battersea is really enjoyable and sad so I reccoment it to every Jacky fan who loves some tissues beside them when reading books. Read it.

   Sapphire Battersea is an amazing book just like Hetty Feather! It is definitely worth reading if you haven’t already because it’s very well written, keeps you hooked, uses lots of interesting vocabulary and much more!

    I think Sapphire Battersea was very exciting! It was sad aswell.Especially when she finds her mother at last but then the horrible tragity happened!Poor Sapphire!My dad really enjoyed reading this book to me before I go to bed.If I was ever reading it by myself I would have to update him whats happening! I really loved this book!

    This book is absolutely amazing, I’ve only just finished it and it took me 5 days! I am currently reading the 3rd book called emerald star (it is also fantastic!!). This books defiantly lives up to Hetty Feather. In this book hetty is at last freed from the foundling hospital and starts being a servant for a kind old author called mr Buchanan. At first he seems nice and interested in hetty but that soon changes…

    Soon hetty realises that she needs to see and be with her mother, but her mother isn’t all fine and well….

    This book is amazing (as I said before!!) and it’s definitely worth reading. I would recommend this book for 9+ as it can be complicated in places. I would warn people though that the ending isn’t amazing as it leaves on a bit of a cliffhanger!! Please read!!!:):):):):):)

    i have only read a couple of pages and watched the trailer, but it is absolutely fantastic!!!!! i just wish i could read more but i cant, i’m hoping to buy it soon though :) i finished Hetty Feather in 1 1/2 days and i hope i can do the same, i read 14 Jacqueline Wilson books in 2 weeks, i can tell you 1 thing for definite, this book is fantastic and i am the absolute number 1 fan of Jacqueline Wilson!!!! believe me if you liked hetty feather, you will LOVE this book!!!!

    I was really hlad when jaquline wilson bought this one out I really wanted to see what eould happen to hetty ,in this one she gets reiunited with her mother and hetty does.child minding I felt so sorry hetty when her mum died a really good book to read this one is

    Hetty Feather (or as she prefers to be known, Sapphire Battersea) has returned. Fourteen years old and her last day at the Foundling Hospital. Soon to be pushed into the harsh, unknown, outside world, she becomes a servant for a sly old man. Hetty tries to be reunited with her mother, but things don’t quite go to plan.

    I found this book really depressing and it really upset me in places. I actually read another review of this book on Amazon, where a woman’s nine-year-old daughter actually burst into tears whilst reading this because it was so sad, and I can almost relate to that. Happy moments in this book were non-existent.

    Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed this book a lot. It was really interesting, the characters were great and well-developed and the plot was gripping. Love the cover too! I was actually late for school one day because I couldn’t put the book down! The only flaw is that I’d start reading the book happily and when I finished I was sad and miserable, and not because it was the end of the book.

    Not a very light-hearted read and not entirely believable in places. Otherwise, though, this was quite a good book. Even though the age rating is 9+ I would recommend it to 11+. I recommend this book to fans of Jacqueline Wilson and fans of the Victorian-era. 3.5/5.

    i loved this book,it was sooo moving.a follow on to hetty feather and i thought it would just end at that,from my review jackie fans should seriously check this book out!! if you dont you are missing out on a great oppitunity !!

    I really loved this book. I read this because I read the first one – Hetty Feather and I liked that one too. Sapphire Battersea was better though! I loved it.
