Product description

“My name is Harriet Manners, and I am a geek.”

Harriet Manners knows that a cat has 32 muscles in each ear, a “jiffy” lasts 1/100th of a second, and the average person laughs fifteen times per day. She knows that bats always turn left when exiting a cave, and that peanuts are one of the ingredients of dynamite. But she doesn’t know why nobody at school seems to like her. So when Harriet is spotted by a top model agent, she grabs the chance to reinvent herself. Even if it means hijacking her only friend’s dream, attracting the fury of her arch-enemy Alexa, and repeatedly humiliating herself in front of impossibly handsome model Nick. Even if it means lying to the people she loves. But as Harriet veers from one couture disaster to the next, pursued by her over-eager father and an uber-geeky stalker, she begins to realise that the world of fashion doesn’t seem to like her any more than the real world does. Will life in the spotlight turn out just as cold and friendless as geekdom?

    One of the best books!

I genuinely have nothing bad to say about Geek Girl. The way it's written is fantastic. I've been absorbed in this book ever since I got it. I really loved the way that Holly managed to incorporate facts into the storyline. I feel as though I learned so many interesting facts reading this book. Geek Girl is possibly one of the best books I've read and reviewed- 5* by far.

    I was captivated!

I was captivated right from the start! harriet was instantly recognisable as we all have a slightly 'smart' side to us (some more than others. I am one of those people!) It was a very light read with a serious side, too, and I really gained an insight into the modelling industry. I'm looking forward to seeing more of Nick in the sequel as I find myself thinking of him rather more than I should (wonder why....?)

Geek Girl is an amazing modern day book all about fitting in and opportunities. The plot is all about 15 year old Harriet Manners you’re typical geek, knows the answer to everything, gets loads of praise but nobody seems to like her. So when she’s offered the opportunity of her life she grabs it by the reins and tries to transform herself from geek to chic. But the only problem is this is her best friend’s, Nat’s dream and her step mother doesn’t want her doing it – so she has to keep lying to everyone she loves. The other problem is this new opportunity is very difficult but the mysterious Lion Boy seems to be helping her through it all?!?!
