Product description
Washed up on a remote island in a Pacific storm, Michael curls up and waits to die. But when he wakes, there is fresh fruit beside him. He is not alone… Michael Morpurgo’s vivid story of a young castaway’s struggle for survival is a true modern classic. Partly an adventure fantasy in the purest tradition, it also pulls together powerful and thought-provoking themes of love, loss, forgiveness, hope and redemption.
Winner of the Red House Children’s Book Award.
Also available: Read and Respond activities to accompany Kensuke’s Kingdom.

on 15 November 2016Kensukes Kingdom is an Amazing book it left me on the end of my seat at the end of every chapter. It is quite an magnificent book I couldn’t stop reading it at school so sneakily I carried on reading. At first I thought it would be really boring but as they say never judge a book by its cover. I would recommend this book to loads of people because it can inspire you to do the most creative things or even make you want to read any book because books are literally phenomenal.

on 4 May 2011I really liked this book.Reading it on your own can be helpful to look those words up in a dictionary.
Reading it to someone is also good to see if you know what the words mean or if whoever your reading it too Knows either.
I had it read to my class by our teacher Miss Foster who stopped at every haard word until someone explained the word or until someone asked or until someone looked it up in a dictionary.
Even so anyone with enough wits and guts could read it.

But in some parts of the features i did find it sad and when you may read this book you may loose your smile…. have a go reading this book and you,ll be in a magical spearet…............

on 3 March 2011This was a great book from Micheal Morpurgo. I read it as a class so went slower. But loved the book so much, I decided to buy the book. Have read again and still amazed as it is based on a true story. The pictures, few of them, are brilliant. They really help you imagine the story. On the front cover of the book I have, it says the book won the best children’s book award. Well worth it in my opinion. A gripping read that most would enjoy.

on 13 June 2010I read this book and it was BRILLIANT. I don’t know how michael morpurgo thought of the whole thing it’s so brilliant.I love the name peggy sue for a boat I really need to read it again. because i forgot it but i don’t know how since it’s so brilliant i thought it was really quite funny when he thought the man was a chimp. and i thought it was really odd that he picked out the hair from the one of chimps I can’t remember the name of the chimp anymore but anyway and then he made a brush out of it was really well….... em….... odd, different, weird even

on 6 June 2009Michael’s life is ordinary until his parents become redundant and his family buy a boat. Michael and his family sail around the world, visiting far away places with his dog ‘Stella-Artois’. Michael Morpurgo uses his excellent skills to bring the characters and settings to life. The story is written as a diary as Michael is retracing his childhood memories. He makes friends with a man named Kensuke after falling into the water. I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys adventure, mystery and geographical stories.

on 17 March 2009The tragic bit was when the boy fell off the boat with the dog. I liked the part when his mum and dad came and rescued him. Kensuke was ok, but a bit strict. The chapter about the turtles was good. Overall, it was weird and strange. It wasn’t my favourite Michael Morpurgo book – I would recommend Toro Toro. That made my mum cry.
