    Mixed set.

The books are an appropriate reading level for beginning readers, and are colourful and engaging. However, the choice of which animals, etc. are included is, I think, disappointing. Our granddaughter, just six, found a snail shell. “Do snails grow out of their shells and leave old ones behind and grow new ones? I am not sure, I will look in my Nature Set.” (Great, she is learning how to learn independently.) But - the whole set does not include slugs, worms or snails, three creatures a curious nature lover will encounter before many others. She was very disappointed and it knocked her faith in the power of independent research. Yes, OK, she will get over it, but what a lost opportunity. I would warm others not to expect too much from this set, especially for day to day questions, and would love to know the reasoning behind the selections.
