Connectors Orange
Overview
Connectors is a groundbreaking reciprocal reading series for peer-to-peer learning: an ideal way to make the most of your Pupil Premium for disadvantaged learners. Based on small-group reading sessions where children encourage each other, Connectors has been shown in formal classroom trials to bring children’s reading age forward by an average of 9.1 months in just 12 weeks.
Connectors starts with children working in small, independent groups of up to six, each reading and discussing a copy of the same book. As they read and debate together, children develop a range of thinking skills, gain confidence and build oral language and listening skills.
Connectors Orange is aimed at children who are starting to read more complex sentences with a range of punctuation. It builds thinking skills and reading comprehension using a range of topical books that encourage curiosity and debate. Children will be encouraged to predict what happens next, clarify content, ask questions and summarise each text.
