A powerful cross-curricular tool, Real-Life Maths brings together subjects from music to literacy and ICT in exciting situations where children can get out from behind their desks and apply their mathematical skills. Whether it’s a musical trip to the zoo, running catering in a castle, or a trip to a fruit farm, each scenario is aimed at developing particular skills such as counting, handling money, measuring, times tables and so much more.

There are ten scenarios in each book appropriate for that level. Each comes with teachers’ notes, as well as resources to help you execute the scenario. The accompanying CD-ROM has a video introduction and slideshow, PDFs of the photocopiable resources and additional material to help bring the scenario vividly to life.

Real-Life Maths is ideal for mixed-ability groups, as children can all work at the same activity at different levels of complexity. It’s a superb tool to enthuse reluctant learners about maths, and to help all learners understand how numeracy fits into the real world.
