The Demon Headmaster #1: The Demon Headmaster Award-winning author by Gillian Cross (author)

A gripping and thought-provoking school story filled with mystery, suspense, and unforgettable twists, this classic children’s novel follows Dinah as she uncovers a chilling secret that threatens far more than just her new school.

When Dinah moves in with her foster family, she thinks her biggest challenge will be settling in with her foster brothers, Lloyd and Harvey. But from her very first days at her new school, something feels wrong. Most of the pupils are unusually obedient, strangely emotionless, and eager to please the sinister headmaster at all costs.

Together, Dinah, Lloyd, and Harvey begin investigating the mysterious influence the headmaster seems to have over the students. As they dig deeper, they uncover a terrifying truth. The headmaster’s power extends far beyond ordinary discipline, and his ambitions reach much further than the school gates.

When Dinah herself begins to fall under his control, the race is on to stop his dangerous plans before it’s too late. Can the children break free from his influence and prevent him from carrying out a scheme that could affect the entire country?

Combining page-turning suspense with memorable characters and a brilliantly unsettling villain, this bestselling classic continues to captivate new generations of readers.
