Product description

Mr Gum is a truly nasty old man. He’s absolutely grimsters. But this book is not just about him. There is also a little girl called Polly, an evil butcher, heroes and sweets and stuff, and Jake the dog, who must be saved from terrible, terrible evil. The hit comedy which has taken the world by storm brings together a wonderfully horrible villain, a delightfully naive heroine, and heaps of cliffhanging tension. Everyone says Mr Gum is the funniest thing since Roald Dahl – so don’t hang about! Let your pupils judge!

Winner of the Red House Children’s Book Award.

Praise for the Mr Gum series:

“Quirky, odd and deliciously funny.” Sophie Dahl

“Smooky palooki! This book is well brilliant! Andy Stanton is far too clever and funny and should be locked away in a very dark place that nobody can find.” Jeremy Strong

“A wickedly entertaining story.” Bookseller

This book is very funty. It is a mittersy if anyone doesn’t like it. One of the funniest books I have ever read. You HAVE to read it. If you don’t like it you are either Krusty the Clown or need a sense of humour transplant.

This is one of the funniest books I have ever read and I loooooooooooove reading. I had to read it about 50 times because practically, my sides were splitting. I got my mum and dad to read it and even my grandma’s and granddad’s. I would definitely reccomend this book. If Andy Stanton is reading this, Andy… you are one of the funniest authors ever. I would love to meet you.

I thought this book was really, really good. It’s about Mr Gum – he’s a bad man and Billy William – he’s bad too. It’s funny. I thought the funniest bit was when Friday O’Leary shouted “The truth is a lemon meringue!”. You really should read this book.
