Angel Cake by Cathy Cassidy is truly sweet and delicious story for girls aged 9+

Anya used to dream of moving to Britain to start a brand-new life. But as she sits in a school where nobody understands her, she dreams of Polish summer skies and the place where she once belonged.

Then Anya meets bad boy Dan. He’s no angel, but she’s sure there’s a sweeter side to him. And when things begin to fall apart, Anya realizes she’s not alone – how can Dan be such bad news when being with him feels like heaven?

‘Touching, tender and unforgettable’ – Guardian ‘Cassidy’s characters have real heart’ – Sunday Telegraph ‘Cathy Cassidy . . . is way better than Jacqueline Wilson’ – Courtney, aged 10

The novel starts with Anya the polish girl who hates living in small ugly apartment on top of a chip and she doesn't comfortable in her new school where most of the pupils are wild and scary . This book was amazing I couldn’t stop reading it, it’s all about a girl called Anya and her family including Kazia her little sister, and her mum who lived in Krakow and moved to Liverpool so they could start a new life with their dad who already lived in Liverpool because of his job.

I like this one, it’s different from normal ones because you see it from the perspective of a girl that’s trying to fit in to a different culture.

Fantastic!!! this book is about a girl who moves from Krakow in Poland to Liverpool to start a new life. Anya thinks that it will be great, but when she gets there all is not as it seems… She moves into a beat-down flat with her family, kids are setting fire to the school, and maybe one boy she thought liked her liked someone else. This is based on a true story, must read!!! :D

From the outside, Anya seemed like a sweet, shy, quiet girl. To some people, she might have even seemed stuck up and posh. But inside, she was normal and just wanted life to be good again; she wanted life to be how it was in dreams. She was a great character and I empathised with her well.

This book was really good. It was written brilliantly and it was as if you were there, watching everything that happened to Anya and her family. This is one of my favourite books by Cathy Cassidy! My favourite character was Frankie, one of Anya’s new friends, because she was really cool and funny and didn’t care what anybody else thought, which is a great message for readers. She also helped Anya and gave her advice when she didn’t know what to do.

This is a really good book, it totally changed my perspective. I know a girl who is Polish and couldn’t speak very much English and when i read this book it made me realize how hard it must have been for her. Great read ages 11+

Angel Cake is an epic book. It is really real life but is actually quite sad. Anya is an amazing character, who emigrates to Liverpool from Poland. She feels really left out, but because of her great personality, she easily makes friends
